Denji is a complex and dynamic protagonist in the dark fantasy anime series Chainsaw Man. He is a poor and struggling young man who is forced to work for the yakuza to pay off his deceased father's debt. Despite his tough circumstances, Denji remains optimistic and kind-hearted, often going out of his way to help others. However, his life takes a drastic turn when he merges with his pet chainsaw dog, Pochita, and becomes the powerful Chainsaw Man, granting him the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. With his newfound powers, Denji joins the Public Safety Devil Extermination Division, a government agency dedicated to fighting against devils and other supernatural threats. As Chainsaw Man, Denji must navigate the dark and treacherous world of devil hunting, all while struggling to maintain his humanity and sense of self.
